In 2004, working with the Government in aid of elephant conservation, Bali Elephant Camp was established to help care for and promote the plight of Sumatran elephants. At the beginning, Bali Elephant Camp has 9 Sumatran elephants, who along with their ‘mahouts’ (careers) have become ambassadors for their brothers and sisters in Sumatra. Come and ride one today – our friends in conservation say we have some of the healthiest, happiest elephants they’ve ever seen!
In 2013 our new and fascinating within out camp is pod chocolate. Pod Chocolate is a sustainable chocolate maker creating world class chocolate in the heart of Bali. We’re excited to be able to offer so many great adventures all in the one location. That’s a Bali First! No other company can share so much excitement in one place. And best of all – that place is our own village. Alit Yudha, the company’s founder, had a dream to improve the social conditions in the surrounding villages by encouraging tourism. When the company started it had only a handful of people, and now it contributes to employing up to 200 people in and around the beautiful location (not to mention caring for the elephants!).
